Breast Surgery Unit
This post is designed to provide a senior surgical trainee with the opportunity to extend their training in specialist breast diagnostics, oncology, surgery and oncoplastic techniques. Applicants must have a sound knowledge of breast disease management with appropriate breast oncological surgical skills. The postholder will be expected to work alongside the Breast Consultants and support the other middle grades and nurse practitioners.
Applicants must have full registration with the GMC and hold FRCS or equivalent.
Main duties of the job
1. To work with the other trainees and staff in clinic, in theatre and on the wards to facilitate smooth and continuous service delivery as well as maximise training.
2. To keep up to date with relevant administration work.
3. To deputise from time to time for absent colleagues.
4. Exceptionally to perform additional duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances and to be available for such irregular commitments as are essential for continuity of patient care.

Essential criteria
5. Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons or equivalent

6. Higher Medical or Surgical Degree
7. Possession of CCT or date within 3 months
Experience

8. Experience in Breast Surgery in relation to surgical oncology including complex case management
9. Evidence of working in a multidisciplinary team

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
