Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Part-time Medical Receptionist working 16 hours to join our wonderful Reception Team. Working Rota (16 Hours)
* Monday 13:00 - 18:30 (5.5 Hours)
* Tuesday 8:00 - 11:00 (3 Hours)
* Wednesday 15:30 - 18:30 (3 Hours)
* Thursday DAY OFF
* Friday 14:00 - 18:30 (4.5 Hours)
Responsibilities
You will be part of a large team that supports the clinical staff by signposting patients to the right service that meets their needs. Your day will be varied from greeting patients at the reception desk, answering queries, handling telephone calls in our call centre, working alongside the GPs processing requests for appointments and signposting patients to a range of services, no two days will be the same.
As part of the reception team, after a period of training, you will have gained a unique set of skills enabling you to fulfil the role, which will include (see job description for the full requirements of the role).
* Telephone: Supporting patients and signposting to the appropriate clinician/organisation.
* Handling requests for home visits and taking messages.
* Online forms: Dealing with the online forms received from patients for appointment requests.
* Contacting patients via telephone, text or letter as appropriate.
* Care Navigation: Being able to appropriately sign post patients to the most appropriate clinician or service by the use of a defined template.
* Reception duties to meet practice needs in agreement with Reception Supervisor: Receiving patients and booking appointments at the Reception Counter.
* Monitoring the waiting room and guiding patients to rooms. Inform patients of relevant charges for private (non-General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
Whilst full training will be given, ideally you will have previously worked in a customer service role or a role dealing with the general public. You will also need to be computer literate and have good keyboard skills. This is a highly emotive role in a fast paced environment, and therefore requires someone who can demonstrate empathy, compassion and patience.
