Temporary School Finance Manager – Tonbridge
Full-Time | Temporary (3 Months+)
Hours: Monday–Thursday 9am–5pm, Friday 9am–4:30pm (some flexibility available)
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Finance Manager to provide temporary cover for a long-term absence. The successful candidate will support senior leadership with the day‑to‑day financial management of a busy school environment and ensure all financial processes run efficiently and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce accurate monthly management accounts and budget reports
* Support budget planning, forecasting, and financial monitoring
* Oversee payroll processes and statutory financial returns
* Maintain and monitor financial controls and procedures
* Support year‑end audit preparation and compliance requirements
* Manage purchasing, procurement, and supplier contracts
* Assist with income generation opportunities and funding applications
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
Essential Requirements
* Previous school finance experience
* Current Enhanced DBS certificate
* Available to start immediately
* Strong financial management and organisational skills
* Experience preparing management accounts and overseeing payroll
* Ability to work independently and manage competing deadlines
Desirable
* AAT or accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA or equivalent)
* Knowledge of school finance systems including PS Financials and ParentPay
* Experience within the education sector or academy environment
