Overview
Experienced Leakage Technician – South East Water. RPS are seeking Experienced Leakage Technicians to join our Water Operations Division, working on behalf of South East Water. Projects are available in the Basingstoke area. Our Leakage Engineers support regulatory targets by reducing leakage and delivering high-quality service to clients.
Your Team
The RPS Asset, Surveying, and Inspection (AS&I) team provides industry-leading services to the UK Water Industry, including Water Networks, Drainage, Surveying, Leakage Consultancy, Water Resources and Efficiency. The team analyses complex data and offers pragmatic solutions to reduce water leakage and prevent flooding and pollution in local communities.
About You
As a key member of the AS&I business, your role as a Leakage Technician is to deliver great work, provide excellent customer service, and execute complex operational tasks. This role offers opportunities for progression within RPS. You will need to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings and overtime if required, and be willing to travel to different locations. The role is outdoors, in all weather conditions.
Your Responsibilities
* Reporting to the Team Leader, ensure leakage reduction by resolving complex operational issues and locating proactive and reactive leaks on client networks using a range of methods.
* Assess and record property counts, diagnose and determine the most appropriate solution to reduce leakage and support regulatory targets, pinpointing leaks with high accuracy.
* Maintain Health and Safety standards.
* Achieve KPI targets and deliver leakage detection/reduction within DMSs (DMA’s).
* Attend excavations requested by R&M to assist leak location.
* Train and mentor assistant Leakage Technicians.
* Undertake general admin tasks (electronic timesheets, weekly vehicle checks, defect reporting).
* Foster excellent working relationships with colleagues, contractors, and the client.
* Pressure logging and step testing; meter surveys.
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience
* Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Good standard of basic maths and English.
* Basic IT skills.
* Willing to nights, weekends and overtime as required.
* Good hearing; able to work alone or as part of a team.
Qualifications
* Full (Manual) UK driving licence.
* National Water & Hygiene.
* Unit 2 NRSWA.
Health and Safety
* Moving heavy items including inspection chamber covers.
* Working in all weather conditions, including night work.
* May require working in confined spaces and on highways.
* Mandatory drugs and alcohol tests; a DBS check will be undertaken.
