This apprenticeship lasts for 24 months. The training is delivered by Northumberland Skills, and you will be required to attend training at Morpeth Leisure Centre, NE61 1SR.
What the candidate will be doing on a day-to-day basis
The successful candidate will work closely with Business Support staff in the Bereavement Services team within Local Services.
This role involves supporting the effective operation of bereavement and local services through administrative, financial, and supervisory tasks. Responsibilities include maintaining burial and cremation records, processing service requests, managing financial systems, invoices, and payments. The role also involves record-keeping, providing guidance to families during bereavement, liaising with external partners, ensuring statutory compliance, supporting project planning and civil emergencies, and maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality, and customer service.
Background on department
The Bereavement Services team supports the operational team and liaises with funeral directors. The team maintains 22 cemeteries and churchyards, and manages 1 crematorium located in Blyth.
Type of person we are looking for
We seek an enthusiastic, polite individual eager to deliver excellent customer service, with a desire to learn and expand their skills through hands-on experience.
The successful candidate must have an eye for detail and be committed to completing tasks accurately. Every service arrangement must be exactly as requested by the family, as there is only one chance to get it right.

Based at Blyth Cemetery, Cowpen Road, Blyth.
Apprenticeship framework and contract
Duration of 24 months, plus 6 months for End Point Assessment. Contract type: Fixed Term.
Requirements of the job
Maths and English GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above.
