Job Summary
We are seeking a talented and passionate Sous Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in food production and kitchen management, ensuring that our kitchen operates efficiently and effectively. As a Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and maintaining high standards of food safety and quality. This position requires excellent leadership skills, as you will be supervising kitchen staff and fostering a collaborative environment.
Duties
* Assist the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu development and food preparation.
* Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.
* Oversee food production processes to maintain quality control and consistency.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment.
* Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation.
* Manage inventory levels, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
* Participate in serving meals during peak hours to ensure timely service.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
* Strong culinary skills with a solid understanding of food preparation techniques.
* Demonstrated experience in supervising and managing kitchen staff effectively.
* Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices.
* Excellent leadership abilities with strong communication skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Previous experience in menu planning and cost control is advantageous.
