What You'll Be Doing
You'll be part of a passionate team of scientists conducting real-world analytical testing to support internal teams and external customers. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Performing routine analytical testing using both traditional techniques and advanced instruments (e.g. XRF, XRD, ICP‑OES, Ion Chromatography, and more)
* Testing raw materials, in-process samples, and final products
* Maintaining high standards in laboratory conditions, equipment calibration, and documentation
* Following all safety and environmental procedures
* Getting involved in continuous improvement initiatives like Lean, 5S and method development
* Organising your own workload and working to agreed priorities
* Supporting the team to meet key performance indicators and company goals

Who We’re Looking For
Education / Entry Requirements
* At least 5 good GCSEs including a minimum Grade 4/C in Maths, English and Science
* Minimum 112 UCAS points, with:
o A-level: A in Chemistry and C in Maths, or
o BTEC: Distinction in Chemistry‑related subject and Merit in Maths
* Must meet MMU entry requirements for the Laboratory Science Degree Apprenticeship (Full details: Manchester Metropolitan University – Degree Apprenticeship)
Skills & Attributes
* Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different audiences
* High attention to detail and accuracy in lab work and data entry
* Excellent practical skills—comfortable with pipetting, weighing, and lab processes
* Solid mathematical ability, including algebra and calculations
* Proactive problem‑solving mindset and team player
* IT‑literate (e.g., MS Excel, data entry systems)
