This is your chance to gain hands-on lab experience while earning a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Science through our Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship with Manchester Metropolitan University.
What You'll Be Doing: You’ll be part of a passionate team of scientists conducting real-world analytical testing to support internal teams and external customers.
Your key responsibilities will include: Performing routine analytical testing using both traditional techniques and advanced instruments (e.g.
XRF, XRD, ICP-OES, Ion Chromatography, and more) Testing raw materials, in-process samples, and final products Maintaining high standards in laboratory conditions, equipment calibration, and documentation Following all safety and environmental procedures Getting involved in continuous improvement initiatives like Lean, 5S and method development Organising your own workload and working to agreed priorities Supporting the team to meet key performance indicators and company goals What You’ll Gain: A fully funded BSc (Hons) Chemical Science Degree via Manchester Metropolitan University 1 day per week online study, with occasional in-person sessions Real-world lab experience in a cutting-edge chemical manufacturing environment Ongoing mentoring and development A strong foundation for a long-term career in science and technology Who We’re Looking For: Education/Entry Requirements: At least 5 good GCSEs including minimum Grade 4/C in Maths, English and Science Minimum 112 UCAS points, with: A-level: A in Chemistry and C in Maths, or BTEC: Distinction in Chemistry-related subject and Merit in Maths Must meet MMU entry requirements for the Laboratory Science Degree Apprenticeship (Full details: Manchester Metropolitan University - Degree Apprenticeship ) Skills & Attributes: Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different audiences High attention to detail and accuracy in lab work and data entry Excellent practical skills—comfortable with pipetting, weighing, and lab processes Solid mathematical ability, including algebra and calculations Proactive problem-solving mindset and team player IT-literate (e.g., MS Excel, data entry systems) Ready to Start Your Career?
