Main duties of the job
Keyresponsibilities of the post holder:
Work with the Head of Profession,Pathology Training & Development Group and Pathology Quality Lead tofacilitate and implement pan-CSU workforce development strategy
Support departmental TrainingManagers in the development and maintenance of training and competenceassessment processes.
Lead on the management furtherdevelopment of our electronic ProfilerLive system in providing an electronicsystem to support the provision of training and competency assessment acrossthe CSU.
Represent Pathology throughoutinternal and external education and training networks
Develop and secure funding sources tosupport staff training and development

Job responsibilities
Thepost holder will be responsible for the management of training and educationacross the Pathology CSU (Aprox 750 FTE).This will include programmes for Healthcare Science, Biomedical SupportWorker and A+C staff, thethe individual will also build up relationships withtheir counter parts across WYAAT, and inparticular the proposed New PathologyPartnership (NPP) between LTHT, Calderdale Fundation and Mid-Yorkshire Trust inpreparation of further service consolidation, and harmonisation of trainingpractices.
Thepost holder will be responsible for liaising and working with colleagues acrossother Trusts and CSUs within Leads where the Health Care Science Workforce isdeployed to ensure the sharing of best practice and educational resources.
JOBDIMENSIONS
Co-ordination and delivery ofeducation and training for the CSU
Work in partnership with keystakeholders to develop, support and share educational resources
Utilise HEE educational resources tosupport the development of staff
Highlight and utilise other sourcesof funding for the training and development of staff ( Leeds HospitalCharities, IBMS funding)
Work with providers of futher andhighier education to support to ensure cources and stuents meet the need ofPathology.
The post holder will be expected to take a colloratein delivering these aims across the network, and will liase closely with theircounterparts at NPP and WYAAT trusts. The postholder will be a member of theCSUoperations group and will contribute to the overall development of theprogramme and provide educational advice to the senior leadership team,incliding the Triumverate.

Inco-ordinating the work of an education team, the post holder will need toliaise with and engage with a cross section of staff disciplines nurses,clinicians, directors, managers, laboratory and administration staff, todeliver measurable outcomes.

Thepost holder must have an understanding of educational planning, delivery andevaluation and associated challenges. It is essential that they have knowledgeand understanding of the NHS Constitution and NHS Improvement goals andpolicies, the NHS modernisation agenda, the wider health economy and Insightinto the hierarchy of the NHS structure, national and local targets. Thepostholder will be expected to understand the transformation objective of thenational genomics programme and the key importance of education in deliveringthis agenda.
PRINCIPALDUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Lead the delivery of education andtraining across the Pathology CSU
Chair the Pathology Training and Development.
Contribute to the planning, deliveryand evaluation work as a member of the Pathology operations, and Trust wideHealthcare Scientist EducationGroup. Utilisation of their education andtraining knowledge and experices to formalise education and training strategiesin retention and recruitment of staff.
Undertake a training needs assessment(TNA), in collaboration with local education partners of staff across the CSU,working with NPP andWYATT partners, including formal educational profiling of individuals, focusgroups and surveys
Plan, develop, implement and monitoreducation strategies to address the requirements of the TNA for Pathology atLTHT
Work with the clinical director andHead of Profession of the Pathology CSU to establish and maintain a database ofeducational development and needs of staff to facilitate accurate targeting ofeducational opportunities and research fellowships
Co-ordinate local access andappropriate allocation of places across the CSU and working ocollborativeleywith WYAAT Partners to secure HEEeducation and other resources and applications to nationally deliveredworkshops and programmes
Co-ordinate the development,implementation, evaluation and reporting of education materials for patientsand the public around pathological sciences
Co-ordinate patient and public accessto HEE education resources
Organise, co-ordinate and deliverlocal partnership training with NPP partners
Develop and support nursing, medicaland laboratory staff to deliver local partnership concerning pathologicalsciences
Working with Organisation Developmentin the procuction and support of training programmes relevenant to thePathology CSU staff
Organise and disseminate theutilisation of HEE educational resources, including targeted educationalresources. Co-ordinate and organise access to individuals or areas of nationalexpertise for staff.
Share best practice and expertiseacross the WYAAT and NPP network and across the HEE education and trainingnetwork
Work with the HEE Education Programmeteam on the transformation evaluation projects and establish local systems tomeasure the impact of interventions
Workwith local and national education teams to develop,deliverand evaluate educational programmes and workshops for managers andcommissioners of services.
Work with the HEE Education Programmeteam to develop resources, and provide support and expertise for theirplanning, commissioning and implementation across the education and trainingsystem
Oversight and leadership of theon-going implementation ProfilerLive training system across the CSU, supportedfrom a technical standpoint by Pathology IT.
