We are seeking a Band 7 Midwife to work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team as the Perinatal Pelvic Health Midwife on a permanent basis. This post will enhance the prevention of pelvic health injury in pregnancy and birth. The post holder will support the delivery of the OASI bundle, identify women at risk of pelvic floor injury and provide training and education for staff and service users around pelvic floor exercises. The post holder will run a specialist clinic and workshops for women and birthing people with mild/moderate urinary incontinence and pelvic floor injury.
Responsibilities
 * Work cooperatively with existing services and the Specialist Pelvic Health Physiotherapist to develop pathways, referral criteria, data collection and service evaluation related to the implementation of a new service.
 * Collaborate with the Psychological Wellbeing Midwife and the Perinatal Mental Health Midwife to ensure that both physical and psychological needs are met.
 * Act as a lead resource for maternity services with expert knowledge of perinatal pelvic health; provide clinical advice, support and training to staff, mothers and babies and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
 * Complete screening for pelvic floor dysfunction with service users.
 * Provide physical assessment of pelvic floor function.
 * Be responsible for providing consultation, advice, referral and treatment (within scope) for women and birthing people with mild/moderate pelvic floor dysfunction as part of the perinatal pelvic health pathway.

Person specification
Qualifications
 * Essential criteria
 * Registered Midwife with NMC PIN
 * Significant experience working at band 6 or above
 * Training in Managing Conduct, Health, Sickness & Performance, Recruitment & Selection, Appraisal etc.
 * Desirable criteria
 * Post-registration qualification preferably in specialty area
 * Training in bladder scanning and endoanal ultrasound scanning
Knowledge and experience
 * Essential criteria
 * Significant knowledge of the pelvic floor, research related to perineal suturing and risk/protective factors for perineal injury
 * Significant relevant clinical and management experience at band 6 or above in a range of care settings
 * Desirable criteria
 * Experience in complaint investigation and response
