Teaching Assistant - Secondary Alternative Provision
Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire (S41)
Pay: £90 - £105 per day
Hours: Full time | Mon-Thurs 8:30am - 4:20pm | Fri 8:30am - 3:50pm | Term time only
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Long-term to permanent
Important: Due to the location and role requirements, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is highly desirable
What You'll Do
* Provide structured 1:1 and small-group academic and emotional support
* Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation through trauma-informed strategies
* Build trust and rapport with students to support engagement and personal growth
* Support reintegration pathways, guiding motivated students back into mainstream education
* Collaborate with teachers, therapists and SEN teams to deliver tailored learning plans
* Track progress and contribute to regular pupil reviews and feedback sessions
What We're Looking For
* Experience working with young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
* A calm, patient and resilient approach in high-need environments
* Strong communication, empathy and the ability to build trusting relationships
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
