About the Role
Reporting to the Site SHEQ Manager, in this role you will be responsible for the operational leadership of a Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) team. You will be responsible for ensuring your team provides plant support and assists in delivery of continuous improvement programs to deliver a safety culture and a health and safety performance that meets the company and local regulatory requirements.
You will achieve this through:
• Managing the implementation and administration of SHE systems such that the Stallingborough Site complies with relevant European & UK statutory and Corporate standards.
• Leading the SHE section of the Stallingborough Site SHE function within budget and in compliance with Site quality, safety, health, and Environmental (QSHE) standards.
• Driving continuous improvement programs in the areas of Health and Safety performance and standards.
The Main Roles and Responsibilities of this role:
• Supports operations in maintaining SHE program, promotes an injury free workplace and minimizes opportunities for non-compliance. Communicates SHE requirements so that operations can implement the requirements in the most cost effective manner.
• Works with the site SHE organization in an untiring effort to find new and better ways to comply with the regulations and requirements in such a way as to reduce the burden on operations and other functional groups.
• Recommends strategies for addressing SHE requirements, shares intelligence from industry, regulators and best practice processes from across the industry
• Directs and advises the SHE team during interactions with the agencies, such as regulatory visits, injury classifications. Assists the sites during agency enforcement actions.
• Prepare specialist SHE reports including data verification, interpretation and recommendations.
• Lead the development of SHE improvement plans
• Lead complex and/or specialized incident investigations.
• Develop and lead SHE workshops.
• Lead complex SHE improvement projects.
• Lead the development and implementation of new / improved Health and systems.
• Facilitate complex risk assessments.
• Interpret and advise on complex / specialized SHE regulatory and business standards.
• Maintain visible operational support and partner with site / regional leadership.
• Lead teams where required, including supervision of contractors
• Lead discussions with SHE regulators / stakeholders over audits, inspections, statutory requirements etc.
• Deliver SHE specialist & leadership training
• Provide input into budgets & manage costs in area of control (including input into capital improvements)
• Assist with SHE global projects.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:
• Degree qualified in a relevant field (Science preferred)
• IEMA Certificate (preferred)
• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health (or equivalent)
• Experience of working on a (top-tier) COMAH site
• UKETS Experience
• Waste and waste diversion from landfill experience
• COMAH Regulations Knowledge
• ISO 14001 and/or 45001 Auditor
• Knowledge of industry trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations
• Knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds and ability to effectively apply this knowledge
• Knowledge of, and ability to implement, the measures necessary to safeguard an organization's employees and visitors
