Opportunity: Highways Inspector

We require the services of a Highways Inspector to support a busy highway maintenance team in Lancashire.
Responsibilities:
* Undertake daily highway inspections to identify, log, and report safety defects following local protocols.
* Respond to public and Member inquiries, face-to-face or via correspondence.
* Perform enforcement actions on the highway, such as serving notices and addressing nuisances, including dealing with the public.
* Use own vehicle to access inspection routes, conduct driven inspections, and respond to reactive complaints.
* Update condition survey data for Highways assets.
* Carry out Highways Act Enforcement as needed.
* Coordinate with council staff, utilities, and others regarding NRSWA enforcement.
* Investigate claims related to tripping or slipping incidents.
* Conduct drainage/subsidence investigations on highways.
* Attend County Court as an expert witness to provide evidence defending the Council’s highway maintenance policies.
* Proficiency in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets.
* Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
* Understanding of IT systems and hardware, including IMTAC or similar systems.
* Hold a valid driving license.
The ideal candidate should be suitably qualified or experienced in relevant areas.
The role is based in Lancashire with a hybrid working arrangement.
