Our client, a Top 40 UK accountancy practice within a national network, is growing its Manchester team and seeking an ambitious Accounts & Audit Senior to play a pivotal role in delivering client excellence whilst building towards leadership. The Role: Overview As an Accounts & Audit Senior, you will take ownership of a varied client portfolio, delivering high-quality audit and accounts work while mentoring junior staff and strengthening client relationships. Key Responsibilities Audit & Accounts Delivery Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion in line with ISAs (UK) Prepare and review statutory accounts under FRS 102 / UK GAAP Manage a portfolio including limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders Ensure compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements Client Relationship Management Act as a main point of contact for clients Build trusted relationships and provide commercial, value-added advice Identify opportunities to support additional advisory services Team Leadership Supervise, coach, and review work of junior team members Provide technical guidance and support development Contribute to internal training and team initiatives About Our Client Our client is a Top 40 UK accountancy firm with a strong national presence, offering audit, accounts, tax, and advisory services to a broad client base. What We’re Looking For Qualifications & Experience ACA / ACCA qualified or finalist (completion within 12 months) 2–5 years’ UK practice experience in audit and accounts Experience handling multi-sector client portfolios Technical Expertise Strong knowledge of FRS 102, UK GAAP, and ISAs (UK) Experience with CCH, Caseware, or similar software Advanced Excel and financial reporting skills Experience in audit planning, fieldwork, and completion Key Attributes Strong communication and client-facing skills Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities Demonstrable leadership or supervisory experience Proactive approach with ambition to progress to Manager level What’s On Offer Salary & Career Progression £35,000 – £45,000 DOE Structured pathway to Manager within 18–24 months Annual salary reviews and discretionary bonus scheme Work-Life Balance Hybrid working (2–3 days in office) 25 days holiday bank holidays (rising with service) Option to purchase additional leave Flexible working hours and early Friday finishes in summer Professional Development Full study support (fees, materials, study leave) Structured CPD and technical training programmes Access to national training resources and mentoring Support for further qualifications (e.g. CTA ) Additional Benefits Employer pension contributions Paid professional subscriptions Employee Assistance Programme (wellbeing support) Cycle to work scheme and season ticket loan Regular team socials and networking opportunities Modern city centre office with excellent transport links Location & Working Pattern Manchester City Centre (easy access via Piccadilly, Metrolink, and bus routes) Hybrid working: typically 2–3 days in-office Surrounded by local amenities, restaurants, and retail Career Progression This role offers a clear, achievable route to Manager level : Year 1: Strengthen technical delivery and client ownership Year 2: Manage larger assignments and broaden leadership responsibilities Manager: Full portfolio ownership, team leadership, and business development Further progression to Senior Manager, Director, and Partner is actively supported.
