Overview
Applications are welcomed from individuals who have experience supporting adults with a learning disability within health or social care services, supporting the assessment, treatment and/or overall wellbeing needs of individuals with a learning disability, complex health needs and behaviours that may challenge, from admission to discharge.
The service supports adults with a learning disability presenting with a variety of complex physical and additional support needs, with behaviours that may challenge. This service has an assessment and treatment unit (Mayfield), a bespoke purpose-built unit (Tayview) and a forensic low secure regional unit (Daleview).
We offer the opportunity to work within talented teams in a multidisciplinary environment and to impact positively on the lives of many individuals. This post involves working within the service; the post holder will be expected to work across inpatient services and rotate where service priority/needs may require. You will work as part of the nursing team to support individuals during their inpatient stay.
The role involves many aspects of care, from targeted clinical duties (under supervision) to supporting individuals who may present with behaviours that may challenge, assisting with personal care, accompanying individuals to appointments, and supporting access to the community to build confidence from initial inpatient admission through to discharge.
Responsibilities
* Work across inpatient services and rotate according to service priorities and needs.
* Collaborate as part of the nursing team to support individuals during their inpatient stay.
* Provide targeted clinical care under supervision and support individuals with behaviours that may challenge.
* Assist with personal care and accompany individuals to appointments and community activities to build confidence.
* Support partnership with individuals, their families, the wider multidisciplinary teams, and other third sector agencies.
Qualifications and requirements
* Ideally you will have excellent communication skills and be able to work in partnership with individuals, their families, the wider multidisciplinary teams and other third sector agencies.
* Evidence of Training in SVQ programmes for Health Care Support Workers at level 3, or equivalent and/or experience in this role is desired but not essential, as in-house training will be given.
* PVG Scheme membership is a requirement prior to appointment.
