We have an opening for a temporary Head chef for a six month contract, ending 2nd January 2026. The primary location will be at Perkins Bar & Bistro and the Carriage Hall set in rural Plumtree, just south of Nottingham city centre, but may also include work in West Bridgford and Nottingham city centre at our sister restaurants.
This is a hands on role to cover our executive chef during her absence and act to support our Head chef as he currently manages both kitchens at Perkins Bistro and The Carriage Hall wedding venue.
We are looking for a kind-hearted, experienced chef with a positive mindset and a real passion for food and outstanding service.
The main functions include:
Overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation & cooking.
Rotas.
Creating and assisting with menu and recipe development.
Supervising and training kitchen staff of all levels.
Overseeing the cleanliness of the kitchen and completing due diligence to ensure we retain our 5*EHO.
Quality control on food taste, portion and presentation
Required skills & Experience:
Food safety certification and history of 5* EHO kitchens.
Extensive culinary experience at head chef/ executive chef level.
Strong leadership & organisational skills.
Excellent cooking ability in all areas including pastry & baking.
Adaptability & flexibility to work between our different sites.
