About The Role We are looking for an eager and passionate individual to join the Wiltshire Intelligence Development Unit as a Criminal Intelligence Researcher. This is an opportunity for civilians to become involved in tactical and strategic policing and contribute toward keeping people safe and bringing justice to criminals across the county of Wiltshire, making a difference, having a positive impact and helping protect the most vulnerable members of our community.
What You Will Be Doing The intelligence team helps build the picture around criminality and community issues of all types, giving you the chance to personally develop and take an active role in investigation work.
In The Role, You Will
* Actively scan and review, collect and collate intelligence, developing it through additional research to support your Analyst colleagues in identifying patterns and trends and developing hypotheses and inferences to explain them, to enable recommendations to be made to tackle the issues.
* Identify intelligence gaps, which, when filled, will enable better resource allocation to mitigate threat, harm, risk concerns and you will be responsible for producing accurate and easy-to-read reports to disseminate information to decision makers in a timely way.
* Handle confidential information, often working under pressurised time constraints, processing large amounts of data quickly. Strong organisational, problem-solving, communication and time-management skills are essential.
About You And Your Experience No prior experience within policing is required, but you should have experience in the following areas:
* Conducting research. The role offers the chance to establish a complex and highly desirable skillset transferable to a variety of roles, creating opportunities for further advancement within the police and criminal justice sector.
* Experience of gathering, checking and evaluating information from a variety of sources.
Note: You may be required to work in any capacity and location within reasonable commuting distance. Some roles require occasional work outside normal hours. The role is permanent and full-time and has been categorised as agile (home working permitted) though office work is also expected due to teamwork requirements.
