Position Summary
The successful candidate will lead a team of Resident doctors and multidisciplinary staff in delivering high-quality care to inpatients, outpatients, and emergency admissions. You will collaborate within a dynamic multidisciplinary team to achieve national and local clinical and quality targets in partnership with commissioners and clinical colleagues.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage a team of resident doctors and multidisciplinary staff to deliver high‑quality care across inpatient, outpatient and emergency settings.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to meet national and local clinical and quality targets.
* Drive service development across the Trust, shaping and expanding older person services.
* Plan and oversee weekend on‑call duties (first and second call), covering unselected take and medical inpatients; structured as one long day and one short day per weekend.
* Provide overnight telephone advice and return to site if clinically required.
* Participate in the on‑call rota, remunerated with additional Programmed Activities (PAs) per week.
* Support education and lifelong learning, fostering a rich and supportive educational environment for trainees and seeking honorary teaching positions at the affiliated Southampton medical school.
Qualifications
* Current Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Internal Medicine or Geriatric Medicine, or within six months of achieving this at the time of application.
* Fluency in English, meeting Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 requirements.
* Demonstrated exceptional team‑working skills and leadership qualities necessary to drive service development.
* Experience in Medicine with a passion for teaching and willingness to engage in teaching at Southampton affiliated medical school.
* COVID‑19 vaccination required; understanding of treating COVID‑19 positive patients within services.

Location & Facilities
Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust operates older person services across three sites: Basingstoke (Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital), Winchester (Royal Hampshire County Hospital) and Andover (Andover War Memorial Hospital). The role will be based primarily at the Winchester site, which currently hosts three specialist wards with 55 dedicated inpatient beds for older adults. Additional services include a dedicated rehabilitation unit in Andover and a series of community‑hospital services.
