Property Services are now recruiting for a Gypsy Roma traveller Boater Showman Project officer. We are looking for an experienced proactive person to join and enhance our team of hardworking, passionate and friendly staff. We would also welcome applicants from GRTBS background or those currently working with communities in an advocacy role or lead.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to support how Enfield Council will be progressing new initiatives for the GRTBS communities in Enfield, not withstanding site delivery for the first time in over three decades. It is an exciting time to join the team as we embark on site design, develop stopping sites further and eventually deliver and manage them in Enfield. You will also be working on community initiatives to ensure our GRTBS communities are fully engaged and empowered.

The role

We are looking for an experienced officer who will engage with and support front line services, understand customer needs and challenges, and help shape and deliver our GRTBS strategy for customers. The officer will assist with the delivery of the vision of the GRTBS Project board and report to the GRTBS lead, working across council departments and collaborating with external stakeholders on projects from conception to completion.

We welcome applicants with lived experience and or those from our Gypsy Roma Traveller Boater Showman Communities.

The team

The Gypsy Roma Traveller team sits within the Housing and Regeneration Department and more specifically the Housing Advisory Service, where the team has access to multiple professional disciplines to improve the quality of life and service equity for all Gypsy Roma Traveller Boater and Showman residents in Enfield. The team includes a Gypsy Roma Traveller Boater Showman Project Board comprising 75 stakeholders that work collaboratively and coproduce with our communities.

The Gypsy, Roma and Traveller (GRT) population is generally recognised as one of the most marginalised groups in society. Enfield has a long‑standing GRT population, and we want to engage and empower these communities.

What we will be doing

* Improve the quality of health
* Improve education
* Improve housing
* Enhance community development initiatives

We are concerned about the low level of engagement from GRT communities, which acts as a barrier to accessing services and can contribute to a poor quality of life.

Working Groups

* Health and wellbeing
* Site delivery
* Education
* Community engagement
* Equalities monitoring
* Community safety
* Heritage and culture
* Financial inclusion and employment

Enfield has an exciting programme of projects underway and we are looking to recruit someone who can demonstrate and support the Council’s vision. We are keen to recruit from the community as an equal opportunities employer.

Requirements

You will be an experienced officer ideally with previous service or property experience in the public sector, working in a busy dynamic team supporting GRTBS communities.

You should demonstrate tenacity, good negotiation, influencing and problem‑solving skills and have experience working with a variety of client groups collaboratively within a local government setting and/or the charity sector. You will work with the GRT lead, meeting deadlines and budgets while responding positively to emerging policies and strategies supporting these communities.

The role plays a key part in building relationships with internal staff and working with external providers of professional services. The office is based in Enfield and requires travel around the Borough, with flexibility to work from home.
