Rehabilitation Officer – Visual Impairment Location: Oldham Council – Adult Social Care We are looking for a Rehabilitation Officer – Visual Impairment to join Oldham Council’s Adult Social Care team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people experiencing sight loss across the borough. About the Role As a Rehabilitation Officer, you will: Carry out specialist assessments of individuals and their carers to identify needs related to sensory loss. Develop and implement support plans that promote independence, wellbeing, and confidence. Provide advice, information, and signposting to other organisations. Act as a specialist consultant and advocate on issues relating to visual impairment. Maintain the statutory register for sight impaired and severely sight impaired residents. Work in partnership with colleagues across social care, health, housing, and voluntary services. Deliver sensory awareness training to staff and providers. About You We are looking for someone who has: A Diploma in Rehabilitation Studies (or equivalent) and registration with RWPN. Experience working with adults and children with visual sensory loss, their families and carers. The ability to carry out sensitive and accurate assessments. Skills in developing rehabilitation interventions to support independence and wellbeing. Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills. IT literacy, with experience using case management systems. A full UK driving licence and access to a car (essential car user). Why Join Us?
