Job Description:
Overview: Ferring Controlled Therapeutics is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Polymer Chemist to join our Pharmaceutical Product Development team. The successful candidate will develop and optimise polymer-based materials for drug-device combination products, working on projects that enhance therapeutic efficacy and patient care.
Responsibilities include:
* Leading the development of new polymeric materials for medical applications, selecting appropriate monomers, catalysts, and techniques.
* Characterising polymers using rheology, mechanical testing, IR, NMR, and optimising compositions for quality and performance.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate polymer materials into products and preparing technical documentation for regulatory purposes.
* Staying updated on advancements in polymer science and medical device regulations.
* Addressing technical challenges through troubleshooting and proposing solutions.
Key duties:
* Developing and characterising polymeric materials for drug-device products.
* Optimising material properties and device performance.
* Designing experiments to evaluate performance and biocompatibility.
* Collaborating across teams and preparing regulatory documentation.
* Maintaining laboratory and manufacturing equipment, training staff, and supporting activities at contract sites.
Qualifications:
* Master's degree in polymer science, chemistry, or related field; BSc with relevant experience considered.
* Proven experience in polymer synthesis, characterisation, and processing.
* Experience in medical devices or pharmaceutical development preferred.
* Strong research skills, scientific writing, and ability to manage multiple projects.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with GxP regulated environments is a plus.
* Fluent in English.
