About The Role
Balfour Beatty is delivering the A57 Link Roads Scheme, a major infrastructure project designed to improve connectivity between Manchester and Sheffield, reduce congestion and improve air quality across the region. Delivered on behalf of National Highways, the scheme will provide new link roads and key infrastructure improvements that support economic growth while improving journeys for road users.
What you'll be doing
* Lead quality management activities across the project, ensuring full compliance with client requirements, contractual obligations, regulatory standards and the Balfour Beatty business management system.
* Develop and maintain project quality plans, integrating client and project-specific requirements into practical ways of working across the project team and supply chain.
* Monitor and report quality performance, identify trends and improvement opportunities, and drive corrective actions that reduce the cost of quality while improving delivery outcomes.
* Lead quality assurance activities including internal and external audits, project reviews and investigations into non-conformances, ensuring robust root cause analysis and lessons learned are embedded across the project.
* Coach and influence colleagues at all levels, building quality capability and promoting a strong right-first-time culture throughout the project.
* Support senior project leadership by providing independent assurance, identifying opportunities for improvement and strengthening quality governance across the programme.
Who we're looking for
* Experienced quality professional with a strong background in civil engineering, infrastructure or highways projects.
* Significant experience managing quality within complex construction environments and a proven track record of delivering compliant, right-first-time outcomes on major projects.
* Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems, with experience supporting internal and external audits and embedding quality processes across project teams.
* Experience leading quality assurance activities, including investigations, non-conformance management and corrective action processes.
* Comfortable working with senior project leadership teams, clients and supply chain partners, providing credible challenge while maintaining collaborative relationships.
* Experience coaching or mentoring junior quality professionals or engineers, and prior team management is advantageous.
* Formal qualification in Quality Management (e.g., Diploma from the Chartered Quality Institute or British Standards Institution) desirable; membership or working towards it beneficial.
* Strong understanding of Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies, with the ability to analyse performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
* Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and confidence to communicate complex findings clearly through written reports and presentations.
