Role Overview
We are seeking a Project & Procurement Manager – Tidal Energy to lead QED’s delivery of its key tidal energy projects and to oversee associated procurement activities across the full lifecycle. This full‑time, on‑site role based from Edinburgh requires a proactive, analytical professional who can manage suppliers, contractors, budgets and deliverables while ensuring high‑quality outcomes aligned with QED Naval’s technical standards.
What You’ll Do
* Lead and manage tidal energy projects from inception through completion, ensuring timelines, budgets and quality targets are met.
* Oversee end‑to‑end procurement processes, including tendering, supplier selection and purchasing of materials and services.
* Conduct supplier evaluations and performance assessments to ensure value, reliability and compliance.
* Negotiate contracts, monitor contract compliance and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
* Coordinate with cross‑functional teams including engineering, operations and finance to support project delivery.
* Track project milestones, maintain procurement documentation and ensure alignment with regulatory standards and industry best practice.
* Drive cost‑effective decision‑making, budget management and risk mitigation throughout project execution.
* Support the development and optimisation of supply‑chain strategies for tidal and marine energy technologies.
What We’re Looking For
* Minimum 5+ years of project management experience within the energy sector, ideally renewable, marine or tidal.
* Proven expertise in procurement, supplier evaluation and supply‑chain management.
* Strong experience in contract negotiation, contract management and vendor performance monitoring.
* Solid analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical, financial and operational data.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment while driving projects forward.
* Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
* Experience managing budgets and cost‑control processes.
* Knowledge of renewable energy or marine engineering industries is a strong advantage.
* Proficiency in procurement analysis tools, tracking systems and standard software packages.
* Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
