The role
As a Senior Process Engineer, you’ll have a role where your expertise will make a tangible difference to national security while accelerating your career development in a dynamic and highly specialised environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be at the heart of the nation’s defence infrastructure, providing expert engineering guidance and leading critical process design work. Your contribution will safeguard the integrity of nuclear plant and equipment across both Devonport’s Nuclear Licensed Site and the MoD’s Authorised Site.
1. Leading the development and delivery of designs through all lifecycle phases
2. Managing and mentoring a small team of engineers
3. Producing, checking, and approving technical documentation and drawings
4. Conducting engineering analyses, including structural and fluid flow simulations
5. Ensuring compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, statutory legislation, and design codes
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 3 days in the office/onsite.
Essential experience of the Senior Process Engineer
6. Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles for pressure and pipework systems
7. Knowledge of the design lifecycle and project specification processes
8. Experience in planning, budgeting, and technical documentation
9. Expertise in one or more areas: pressure systems, CAD, component simulation, fluid flow analysis, or nuclear plant design
Qualifications for the Senior Process Engineer
10. Minimum HND/FdSc/FdEng or equivalent in mechanical/process engineering
11. Professional registration with an engineering institution

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
