Job Description JOB TITLE: Operations Manager REPORTING TO: Hospital Director LOCATION: Cave Veterinary Specialists, Wellington, Somerset Overview Cave Veterinary Specialists are excited to announce a 6-month fixed term contract opportunity for an Operations Manager. Due to an internal secondment, we are looking for an experienced operational and client focused leader to be part of the Cave team. Our multi-disciplinary veterinary referral hospital is situated in the beautiful Somerset countryside, just off J26 of the M5. Working with a close team you will have the opportunity to create new connections in a stunning location. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience working alongside and managing a team to support the business functions. You will have the ability to create an innovative plan and determination to accomplish goals. In this role you will be on the Senior Leadership Team, reporting into the Hospital Director and working alongside our Head of Nursing Services and our Clinical Director. Through driving operational excellence, you will be instrumental in the development and execution of strategic initiatives, whilst enhancing the client experience, and strengthening team development, retention, and engagement. Main purpose & goals • Be an inspirational leader within the business. You will motivate, lead, coach and develop your team across client care and operations with energy and enthusiasm. • Drive operational excellence and an obsession to deliver exceptional client care, through an engaged team who have clear objectives and regular feedback. • Work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to develop a clear, visionary, and sustainable strategy for the hospital to ensure that all key performance indicators are achieved each quarter, in line with the wider Company initiatives. • Under the direction of the Hospital Director, deliver the annual business plan and budget for the hospital across all key financial metrics. • Drive and lead engagement across your teams, actively promoting wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion. • Manage regulatory and legislative processes, and Health & Safety frameworks. Key Responsibilities • Leading from the front demonstrating the values and principles of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health. • Role modelling motivational leadership that promotes a positive attitude to maintain health and mental wellbeing in your teams. • Work with the SLT in the delivery, development, and growth of high-quality services, achieved through the involvement of clients, associates and all stakeholders. • Effective management and development of non-clinical operations to ensure effective and safe delivery of quality services within budget to excellent standards. • Manage processes within the regulatory and ethical framework within which the sector is required to work. • Ensure that business priorities and requirements are achieved to deliver, (both within and outside the centre), professional and exemplary services in support of Linnaeus’s status as a leading veterinary provider in the UK. • Sharing in our passion in ‘Making a Better World for Pets’ and continually striving to improve the client and patient experience through your teams. • Oversee all business administration processes to ensure a seamless client financial journey, managing business debt to within agreed budgeted levels. • Agreeing and reviewing operational KPIs in line with the strategic business plan, demonstrating commercial focus, a structured approach, intelligence, energy, and enthusiasm. • Utilising all available data to inform your strategic vision and decision making for your businesses. • Working with the Central Operations team to implement group wide strategic operational and other initiatives and co-operate on the effective timely cascade of information throughout the business. • Supporting the Central Operations team where needed in ensuring the maintenance of compliance on GDPR, Health & Safety, property and maintenance through practice teams and other stakeholders. • Contribute to regional collaboration and efficient ways of working, to strengthen our culture of sharing best practice, and effectively lead and implement change. • Supporting the SLT and the central team in identifying and recruiting exceptional talent to ensure the practices have full operational resource to be able to deliver the annual plan. • Working with Marketing business partners and the SLT in the development, support, and delivery of annual marketing plans to drive footfall and client engagement • Working with HR Business Partners and the business unit SLTs to identify and develop future talent to support associate retention, career pathways and succession planning. • Driving and supporting on our wider sustainability goals. Line Reports • Client Care and Workflow Manager • Facilities and Operations team Job Requirements We are looking forward to speaking with candidates who have experience in the following areas: Leadership and line management experience. Team development. Customer service. Financial analysis. Stock management. Health & Safety and Facilities Management. This role will be 40 hours a week, primarily Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am-6pm, and is site based. Hours will be flexed when needed to support the business needs which will include weekend and out of hours work at times. The role is a fixed term 6-month contract, with the possibility of this being extended to a permanent position. Salary will be up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience and pro rata.
