We are seeking a dedicated Pupil Support Assistant (2) who is passionate about enhancing life opportunities for children and young people, enabling them to reach their full potential. In this role, you will work under the supervision of a class teacher or senior staff to support children and young people requiring additional assistance.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting pupils/children individually, in class, or in small groups in specific areas of learning and personal development.
2. Contributing information to update planning and review processes for individual pupils/children.
3. Supervising pupil/child self-administration of medication, providing high levels of personal care to promote independence, including toileting and administering medication as per training procedures.
4. Implementing support programs designed by visiting specialists, such as speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, or occupational therapy.
5. Supporting pupil/child mobility on an emergency or short-term basis, including toileting support or assisting with injuries like a broken leg.
The Person
The ideal candidate will have:
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
* Experience supporting young people with additional support needs.
* The ability to register with the SSSC within 6 months of employment (applicable to Early Learning Centres, Primary, and Special Schools), and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning (PRTL).
* Qualifications such as:
o 2 National 5’s, or 2 Standard Grades General, or 2 O Grades, or equivalent (SCQF Level 4 or above).
o For Early Learning Centres/Primary and Special Schools: NC in Early Education and Childcare at SCQF Level 6, or SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) at SCQF Level 6, or Professional Development Award in Education Support Assistance at SCQF Level 6, or equivalent, or a commitment to achieve these within the first registration period.
* Proficiency in IT skills.
