Senior / Principal / Associate - Heritage Consultant - UK
Job Overview
WSP is seeking a Heritage Consultant to join our dynamic team. As part of one of the largest heritage consultancies in the UK and Ireland, you will work across all aspects of the historic environment, including archaeology, built heritage, setting, and design, throughout project lifecycles. You will provide expert advice on heritage-related inquiries, manage archaeological projects, and contribute to innovative approaches within the heritage sector.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and deliver archaeological fieldwork projects, including planning, consent applications, and developing archaeological strategies.
* Lead fieldwork projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
* Prepare tenders, design scopes, and methodologies for archaeological investigations.
* Engage with stakeholders, curators, and clients to facilitate project success.
* Monitor subcontractors’ work and review technical deliverables.
* Contribute to archaeological assessments and reports.
* Support business development and marketing efforts within the heritage sector.
Qualifications and Experience
* Proven experience in archaeological project management, including fieldwork and project delivery.
* Strong knowledge of Irish archaeology, history, planning processes, and heritage legislation.
* Experience in heritage planning, conservation, regeneration, tourism, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
* Excellent communication, writing skills, and team collaboration abilities.
* Motivated, conscientious, and able to meet deadlines within a busy environment.
Location
Based in either Cambridge or Bristol offices, with responsibilities covering the northern UK.
