DEPUTY MANAGER – Maternity Cover with view to full time position Early Explorers Flexi Care – Holywell Leisure Centre
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager to support the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care and education for children, fostering a positive environment for both staff and families. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with management experience in early childhood settings to contribute to a nurturing and professional team.
Duties
* Assist the Manager in overseeing the smooth running of the nursery or childcare facility
* Support staff in delivering high standards of childcare and early childhood education
* Lead and motivate team members, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
* Supervise daily activities, including play, learning, and meal times, ensuring safety and engagement
* Organise staff rotas, monitor attendance, and support staff development programmes
* Work directly with children, providing care and educational activities tailored to their developmental needs
* Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, providing updates on children’s progress
* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and safeguarding policies and procedures
* Assist in managing administrative tasks such as record keeping, planning, and reporting
Qualifications
* Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a team
* Experience working with children and understanding of early childhood development principles
* Knowledge of childcare regulations, safeguarding policies, and health & safety standards
* Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
* Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are preferred
* Experience working with children with special needs is advantageous
* Valid driving licence is desirable for travelling between sites or community engagement activities
