The Ordinary Counter Manager - John Lewis (10-month contract)
We are DECIEM, The Abnormal Beauty Company – a vertically integrated beauty company that designs, manufactures, and sells DECIEM and other brands.
What we’re looking for
We seek a full‑time Counter Manager with 2–3 years of management experience, ideally in the fragrance, beauty, fashion, or luxury goods sectors, to lead our lovely DECIEM counter at John Lewis – Liverpool.
Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise all store staff, ensuring effective employee relations, performance management, and smooth execution of all operational functions including sales, merchandising, and customer service.
* Recruit, develop, and mentor a high‑performing team, providing ongoing training and motivation.
* Drive business KPIs and sales performance through strategic planning and execution, ensuring alignment with company goals and consistently exceeding performance metrics and profitability targets.
* Manage scheduling and counter coverage to maintain operational efficiency and optimal customer experience.
* Control operational expenses, monitor daily financial processes, and report key issues to the Area Sales Manager.
* Ensure full compliance with company policies and health & safety standards, including accurate timesheet adjustments in Nova Time.
* Deliver ongoing coaching, promoting continuous development of staff performance and customer service excellence.
* Maintain inventory accuracy and manage weekly orders to meet business needs.
* Provide exceptional customer service, offering expert product knowledge across DECIEM brands.
* Uphold visual merchandising standards, ensuring displays reflect DECIEM branding and support local events.
Qualifications
* Passion for beauty and skincare with strong customer service orientation and enthusiasm for product education.
* Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills, able to multitask and manage conflicting priorities under pressure.
* Demonstrated leadership experience – at least 2 years in a people‑management or supervisory role, with coaching and motivation experience.
* Minimum high‑school diploma; additional certifications or relevant experience considered an asset.
