What will this role achieve?
This role will be key to providing vital support to the Site Leadership team, in particular the site Finance Manager, and enabling the day to day performance within this strategic site.
The successful candidate will provide vital support to the site Finance Manager in a range of areas, including the preparation of quarterly forecasts / budgets and performance reporting. The role will involve working closely with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders as well as guiding the offshore finance function. Developing Cost Centre Managers' financial awareness, owning the site capital investment process, and facilitating the management team in controlling and forecasting the cost base are all part of the responsibilities.
A key element of the role is understanding and controlling the standard cost of production, whilst collaborating closely with the operational team to explain variance to plan. A drive for continuous improvement will be essential in order to develop the processes and practices of the site finance function
What will be your key deliverables?
1. Business partner to site cost centre managers, supporting them in overheads management
2. Supporting the Finance Manager in budget / quarterly forecasting processes
3. Standard product costing ownership including financial support for the development of new products
4. Supporting and collaborating closely with project leads regarding capital reporting and forecasting
5. Site prime and overhead performance analysis and period-end reporting
6. Ensuring robust financial control through maintaining the site asset register, being responsible for timely capitalisation, disposal, asset verification and the periodic balance sheet reconciliation review
7. Reviewing Statement of Process standardisation
8. Supervision and support of the offshore team, including development training and acting as the first point of contact
9. Deputise as the need arises for the Finance Manager
10. Ensuring that decisions, plans and strategies are formulated on a sound commercial and financial basis
11. Ensuring compliance with statutory and group accounting procedures, highlighting areas of concern as appropriate and taking corrective action
12. Mentoring the Site operational team on financial matters
13. Supporting the other site finance roles as and when required
Bring your experience
14. Previous experience in an FMCG / manufacturing finance role is desirable
15. Experience in another organisation across financial reporting and control
16. Previous experience of an ERP system (SAP, JD Edwards etc)
17. Strong analytical skills to provide robust and insightful financial analysis, including planning and forecasting and a desire to challenge.
18. Experience of Financial Analysis / modelling / investment appraisal techniques
19. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to make financial analysis easily understood.
20. Costing experience.
21. The desire to challenge the status quo.
22. Ability to plan optimally and work to deadlines under own initiative.
23. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and equivalent Google programs.
