Controls Engineer – Bespoke Automation
Salary: £40–50k + overtime
Working hours: 38 per week, flexible (early Friday finish)
Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays

This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects, developing your skills in PLC software, HMI programming, robotics, and automation while contributing to continuous improvements across the business.
The role:
* Design, programme, and commission bespoke control systems.
* Work with PLCs (Siemens, Rockwell) and develop HMI screens.
* Programme and integrate robots (ABB, KUKA, FANUC, Yaskawa).
* Carry out full testing, FAT & SAT, and provide on-site support.
* Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers to deliver complete systems.
* Produce clear technical documentation and support customer training.
The candidate:
* Hands-on experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell software (TIA Portal, RSLogix, WinCC).
* Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create simple, effective solutions.
* A good understanding of control system design principles.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work with customers and suppliers.
* Willingness to travel in the UK and abroad for commissioning.
* Ideally some exposure to robotics, automation, and bespoke machinery.
Qualifications required:
* Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Computer Science.
* Around 4+ years’ experience in controls, automation, or special-purpose machinery.
