Job Description Clerk of Works - Mechanical Corporate Landlord (15/2495) Stranraer £35,535 - £38,031 Dumfries & Galloway Council are looking for employ an enthusiastic, experienced, and skilled Mechanical Clerk of Works with an electrical bias to be part of the Property, Estates and Programmes team. This post is for 36 hours per week. Knowledge of electrical works, processes, trades and techniques is essential. You must have significant post-qualification experience in a relevant role, experience of building/property maintenance as well as significant experience as Foreman/Chargehand on various construction projects. You will have sound knowledge of building and construction works, processes, trades and techniques. You will be expected to monitor, record and report the progress of electrical services works throughout the councils estate. You must have good communication skills, the ability to deal sympathetically but firmly with all stakeholders, be firm but fair with contractors and be able to interpret drawings, specification, and bills of quantities in both electronic and paper format. A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged. This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
