Fleet Engineering Manager
We are seeking a Full Time Permanent Fleet Engineering Manager to join our team at the Crewe Site. This role is responsible for overseeing the Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU), fleet operations, and Material Handling Equipment (MHE), ensuring compliance with legal standards and Gist policies.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drive progression and continuous improvement in VMU, fleet, and MHE operations.
2. Implement and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to meet or surpass expectations.
3. Ensure VMU service and safety compliance with all legal and company standards.
4. Lead development and execution of VMU improvement plans, including safety, standards, and financial performance.
5. Manage labour resources effectively, including recruitment, leave planning, and shift patterns.
6. Oversee the service planner, considering fleet makeup and peak periods for seamless operations.
7. Promote safety, training, and upgrade of equipment and facilities within VMU.
8. Manage budgets for VMU, fleet, and MHE, including invoicing, to ensure cost-effectiveness.
9. Lead financial analysis and reporting to support site objectives.
10. Oversee compliance activities and audits to maintain operational integrity.
11. Manage third-party contractors and customers, ensuring service quality and compliance.
12. Participate in site safety meetings and collaborate with site leadership to support operations.
13. Provide cover for the Vehicle Service Manager (VSM) during absences.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience in fleet engineering or maintenance environment.
* Experience managing VMUs, fleet operations, and MHE.
* Strong technical skills to identify issues, evaluate risks, and develop solutions.
* Engineering qualification (C&G, HNC, HND, or higher).
* Experience working within a unionised organisation.
