Stop Smoking Practitioner - Substance Misuse
We are excited to offer a rewarding opportunity to work in partnership with CGL to embed the local Stop Smoking Service within their provision, supporting service users across Nottinghamshire on their journey to quit smoking. This role involves strategic collaboration to ensure effective service integration at key touchpoints throughout the county, offering targeted support where needed most.
As a Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner, you will play a vital role in delivering evidence-based and equitable interventions, helping to address health inequalities, particularly in areas of high deprivation. The ideal candidate will be flexible, capable of working independently, and confident collaborating as part of a wider team. This is a meaningful role that truly makes a difference in people's lives. Training will be provided to equip staff/applicants to deliver effective services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Motivate and empower clients to make changes to address their addiction.
* Explain to clients the principles of nicotine and the Stop Smoking Service to enable informed choices.
* Deliver evidence-based stop smoking interventions, including one-to-one, drop-in, group sessions, telephone, or online support, in accordance with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme.
* Work with other professionals to embed smoking cessation as part of routine client care.
* Maximise the impact of smoking cessation on health gains and reduce health inequalities.
* Analyze health and equality data to inform local service needs.
* Provide high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective services across diverse community settings.
* Lead peer support group sessions for successful quitters to prevent relapse.
* Provide evidence-based education on smoking cessation and behavioral change, along with ongoing motivational support.
* Work with individuals to set realistic, sustainable goals.
* Ensure all client and service records are up-to-date, accurate, and compliant with policies.
* Manage a caseload and recruit potential clients through promotional and community events.
* Assist with administrative tasks such as client contacts, appointment bookings, and confirmations.
* Identify opportunities to develop and improve services for clients.
* Maintain knowledge of evidence-based methods and incorporate new research into practice.
* Attend regular service meetings and training to stay updated.
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will be motivated, passionate, organized, and proactive, with significant experience in smoking cessation or addiction. The role requires effective prioritization skills and the ability to work flexibly across all settings as services develop.
Additional Duties:
* Work under the line management of the Deputy Head of Service.
* Ensure interventions are recorded and monitored using the ABL data system.
* Support performance management and reporting.
* Maintain a professional appearance and uphold the reputation of ABL/CGL.
* Provide excellent customer service to visitors and service users.
* Attend meetings, maintain records, and meet deadlines.
* Work flexibly, including late evenings and weekends as required.
* Proactively develop professional knowledge and contribute to team meetings.
* Address risk and safeguarding issues appropriately.
* Maintain confidentiality and work within professional boundaries.
* Promote and implement organizational initiatives.
* Contribute to service planning and delivery, ensuring alignment with organizational values.
* Comply with all policies and procedures and undertake additional duties as needed.
