About the Role
We are recruiting a Band 7 Senior Clinical Supervisor to lead our newest Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Havering, launching in January 2026. Locally known as the Havering Emotional Support Team (HEST), our service began in 2022 with two teams, expanded to a third in 2023, and is now growing again. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop a new team, working at the forefront of children and young peoples mental health and wellbeing.
Our MHSTs work in partnership with schools, colleges, and community services to provide early access to evidence‑based support. We are a motivated, multicultural team passionate about innovation, quality improvement, and research, with recent collaborations including projects with Edge Hill University.
As Senior Clinical Supervisor, you will provide leadership, supervision, and clinical expertise to ensure high‑quality care for children, young people, and their families. You will also build strong relationships with schools and local partners to embed a whole‑school approach to emotional wellbeing across Havering and Waltham Forest.
The MHST Senior Supervisor/Senior Therapist will be responsible for the caseload management & supervision of the Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs). The post holder will also work with other senior colleagues in developing MHSTs and facilitate wider service transformation.
Responsibilities
* Building strong working relationships with schools, families, and multi‑agency partners.
* Supervising CBT‑informed interventions delivered in group and individual formats.
* Delivering and supervising whole‑school mental health initiatives.
* Providing education staff with consultation and training to build capacity in supporting children and young people.
* Using outcome measures to inform supervision and evidence impact.
* Supporting service development through quality improvement and innovation.
* Collaborating with senior colleagues to shape the growth of MHSTs in Havering and Waltham Forest.
* Supervising EMHPs, providing brief, outcome focused evidence‑based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties in schools.
* Liaising directly with schools, developing and co‑producing materials for delivery/presentation in schools, and supporting the development and embedding of the MHSTs in schools.
* Actively involved in delivering universal and targeted group interventions in schools.

Induction & Probation
NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend a number of drop‑in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
This post will be subject to a probationary period.
Compensation
High Cost Area Supplement – Outer London: this post also attracts payment for a 15% supplement of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 – per annum, pro‑rata for part time).
Teaching, Training and Supervision
The successful candidate will be expected to attend relevant courses (CYP‑MH Supervision) to fulfil the requirements of the training element of the post, if this training has not already been completed.
