Job Title: Mechanical Supervisor

Construction, Installation, Commissioning & Operations

Onshore Construction Supervision


Role Purpose

The Mechanical Supervisor (plant) is responsible for supervising the execution of mechanical construction works on site, whether performed by subcontractors or direct-hired personnel. The role ensures that activities are carried out safely, in compliance with project documentation, quality standards, contractual requirements, and within the approved schedule, supporting the successful completion and handover of the plant.


Key Responsibilities

* Supervise the execution of mechanical construction works, ensuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, procedures, and schedules.
* Promote safe working practices and environmental protection, ensuring full compliance with HSE standards and project requirements.
* Ensure fulfilment of quality, technical, and contractual requirements for all assigned mechanical activities.
* Verify the availability of drawings, materials, tools, and equipment to enable efficient planning and execution of works.
* Support subcontractors and direct-hired personnel in the interpretation of drawings and resolution of technical issues encountered on site.
* Supervise the correct use and maintenance of machinery, tools, and construction equipment.
* Prepare and coordinate detailed work programs for assigned activities, monitoring execution and progress.
* Coordinate and manage human and technical resources, identifying needs, shortages, or surplus to optimise productivity.
* Monitor and measure work progress, providing quantitative data for weekly progress reports and manpower tracking.
* Ensure continuous assessment and verification of installed quantities and work completion status.
* Organise work areas to improve HSE performance and operational efficiency.
* Punch List Management (When Applicable)
* When involved in punch list activities, the Mechanical Supervisor – Plant shall also:
* Set up and manage punch list tracking tools, producing reports to monitor status, priorities, and closure forecasts.
* Plan and coordinate all punch list activities, including walkthroughs and inspections.
* Ensure punch list items are correctly issued, classified, recorded, and assigned to responsible parties.
* Coordinate with construction, engineering, and commissioning teams to close punch list items within agreed timelines.
* Interface with the Client to negotiate punch list classifications in line with contractual scope and project requirements.
* Ensure corrective actions are implemented, documented, and formally accepted, obtaining signed close-out documentation.
* Archive all punch list records to ensure full traceability and proper project handover.


Required Skills and Knowledge

* Knowledge of international construction standards, codes, and regulations, with the ability to supervise their application on site.
* Experience in direct-hired construction activities, including workforce sizing, resource planning, and continuity of operations.
* Ability to read and interpret technical project documentation, including isometrics, P&IDs, piping layouts, plot plans, installation procedures, and alignment sheets.
* Knowledge of piping and steel structure fabrication and installation, including underground piping, equipment erection, and heavy lifting operations.
* Strong understanding of welding engineering, welding processes, consumables, and NDT techniques, including applicable international codes and procedures.
* Capability to manage punch list activities, supporting mechanical completion and handover to commissioning.
* Experience in work progress measurement, productivity analysis, and identification of execution criticalities.
* Knowledge of project HSE management, including application and monitoring of HSE procedures and client requirements.
* Ability to coordinate and monitor subcontractor technical performance, quantities, and scope compliance.
* Awareness of quality control principles and application of Quality Control Plans.
