Ecology Team Leader Position
Are you a leader looking for your next step within the Ecology space? Do you possess a strong grasp of the technical and strategic growth aspects of ecological consulting? Our client, an established multidisciplinary firm, is seeking a new Ecology Team Leader to support, guide, and develop the North East regional ecology team. You will contribute to the client's business development strategy by securing new work in the region and building relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
As Ecology Team Leader, you will lead and grow your team, fostering professional development and encouraging the delivery of high-quality work such as surveys, reports, and assessments. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, with reporting required at the Newcastle Upon Tyne office as needed.
Responsibilities
1. Team Development: Mentor junior staff, support their development, and manage responsibilities like timesheet signoff and pastoral care.
2. Client Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients to ensure a steady workflow.
3. Project Management: Manage your own portfolio of projects, provide ecological advice, and support junior staff. Level 2 Project Management training will be provided if not already obtained.
4. Technical Leadership: Support surveys and assessments, focusing on EcIAs, HRAs, and ecology chapters for EIA reports.
5. Business Development: Identify and deliver new opportunities through market awareness and client engagement.
Requirements
Candidates should meet the following criteria:
1. Minimum of 8 years of experience in ecological consultancy.
2. Strong knowledge of ecological surveys, assessments, and reports.
3. Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management.
4. Valid UK driver's license.
5. Experience in line management, client relationships, and business development.
6. Desirable: Protected species licenses, FISC certifications, or other Chartered statuses.
