We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join us on a permanent basis ASAP. You will undertake reactive and planned engineering maintenance activities and improvement works at the CFC Dordon (near Tamworth). The role involves working closely with Inbound, Outbound, and other support teams to optimize the availability and performance of the facility and its MHE automation. The position is shift-based to support the 24/7 operation of the CFC, starting two weeks before Christmas.
Accountabilities:
1. Carry out planned maintenance across the site in an accurate, timely, and safe manner.
2. Keep records of work activities, tasks, parts used, training, etc.
3. Collaborate with other departments to increase machine reliability on existing and new equipment.
4. Diagnose equipment breakdowns and perform repairs where possible.
5. Attend training sessions as required.
6. Perform daily housekeeping and cleaning duties of equipment.
7. Assist in developing skills and transferring knowledge within the engineering team.
8. Analyze data to find solutions for improving MHE performance.
9. Report and monitor data related to automation and maintenance activities.
10. Maintain and improve performance to maximize operational efficiency in line with KPIs.
11. Participate in projects to develop effective engineering installations and solutions.
12. Support and propose innovative ideas to enhance warehouse and engineering functions.
13. Ensure high site standards with an excellence approach to all activities.
14. Communicate and report all work activities, defects, and parts used through appropriate channels.
15. Plan and schedule planned and unplanned work.
16. Conduct quality inspections ensuring work is completed to a safe standard.
17. Ensure equipment is safe and maintained safely through maintenance activities.
18. Supervise Technical Assistants, providing direction and instruction.
19. Control maintenance tools, stores, and equipment, ensuring safe storage and use.
20. Perform physical engineering maintenance activities at the CFC.
21. Report hazards, accidents, and near misses, and participate in their resolution.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
1. Electrical or mechanical experience, preferably in an FMCG environment.
2. Strong problem-solving skills, with experience in controls, fault analysis, and solutions provision.
3. Good technical knowledge of automation hardware and software, with experience in reactive and preventative maintenance.
4. Organized, capable team player with excellent communication skills.
5. Knowledge of automated warehouses and their technical components.
6. Attention to detail, practical approach, and good problem-solving abilities.
7. Ability to analyze and share knowledge effectively.
8. Respond to tote jams on conveyor systems.
9. Proficiency with computerized systems for reporting jams and maintenance logs; basic computer literacy is essential.
10. Commitment to safety and highlighting H&S issues to management.
11. Full training provided over 5 weeks; experience in automated warehouse/logistics environments is desirable.
12. Flexible working pattern as required by business needs.
13. English language skills at B1 level on the CERF Scale or above.
