We are looking for a visionary and values-driven Chief Executive to work with the Elected Mayor, Cabinet and Members to lead our Authority in its next chapter of growth, innovation, and impact for North Tyneside. The Role:As Chief Executive, you will be an inspiring, dynamic and thoughtful leader who directs the Senior Leadership Team to promote a co-ordinated, cross-functional approach towards strategy, policy development and the delivery of services to the people of North Tyneside.
Our Chief Executive will:
* Carry out Head of Paid Service responsibilities: lead the council, ensuring North Tyneside is structured effectively to deliver services.
* Provide visionary leadership, communicating clear strategic direction to colleagues, Elected Members and the residents of North Tyneside whilst ensuring the continued development of our positive and inclusive organisational culture.
* Oversee the development and implementation of policy, ensuring alignment with the vision for North Tyneside.
* Lead the formulation and execution of strategic planning to achieve agreed long-term objectives.
* Ensure financial stewardship and effective management of the local authority's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
* Political interface:Act as principal policy advisor to the council, ensuring Elected Members receive the highest quality advice on strategy and policy issues. Act independently as electoral registration officer (ERO) and returning officer (RO) for local and national elections.
* Foster strong relationships to ensure effective community engagement, including our resident, businesses, and local organisation stakeholders.
* Act as the primary representative of North Tyneside Council at local, regional, national, and international levels.
* Safeguarding: North Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and adults at risk of harm. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and to familiarise themselves with all relevant policies, procedures, and guidance. What we are looking for:
* Education to postgraduate degree level or equivalent experience with evidence of continuous personal development.
* Proven CEO or senior executive experience with a strong track record of leading and delivering strategic transformation change.
* Demonstrable leadership experience in the public sector, with a sound understanding of the modernising local government agenda and changes in public sector policy development.
* Values driven leadership, with a collaborative, inclusive leadership approach grounded in integrity vision and purpose.
* Excellent relationship building skills, with proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including the Elected Mayor, Members, senior management colleagues and partners in the region.
