Job Overview
Amazon Data Services UK Limited, part of AWS Infrastructure Services, is looking for Data Center Technicians to join a diverse team of engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. In this role you’ll help maintain safe, secure, and high‑performance data center infrastructure worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as a primary technical resolver for data center infrastructure challenges.
* Work within the Data Center Operations (DCO) team to maintain IT infrastructure and hardware.
* Develop expertise in various hardware and software troubleshooting scenarios.
* Lead resolution of infrastructure issues and coordinate with solution teams on complex cases.
* Help drive continuous improvements.
Shift & Rotation
This position includes shift work and may require rotation between locations. Rotating shifts (morning/late/night) as well as weekends are needed to maintain the 24/7 data center environment. On‑call rotation may be required for off‑duty emergency calls.
Safety
* Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world‑class safety culture.
* Own safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
Data Center Operations (DCO)
* Diagnose hardware and network problems followed by physical repairs.
* Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
* Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
* Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with regulations).
Basic Qualifications
* High school or equivalent diploma.
* Valid driver’s license with access to a personal vehicle for daily use.
* Experience with networking and computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science.
* Basic knowledge of Linux and experience with network protocols.
