Enertek Group is working in partnership with a Southern European fintech firm that is expanding its presence across the European market, with plans to further strengthen its footprint in the UK through a London-based engineering leadership hire.
As part of this expansion, the company is preparing to appoint a Head of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering capability in London during this critical growth phase.
This role will be instrumental in building and scaling the UK engineering organisation, ensuring technical excellence, strong delivery capability, and close alignment with the broader European technology strategy headquartered in Southern Europe.
The position is scheduled to go live in mid-February, and we are now beginning conversations with suitable candidates as part of the formal search process.
Although the role is anchored in London, the company operates with a hybrid-first model, offering flexibility for remote work while maintaining a central London presence and close collaboration with leadership in Southern Europe.
About the Role
As Head of Engineering, you will:
Lead and scale the London-based engineering organisation, building high-performing, cross-functional teams.
Define and execute the UK engineering strategy in alignment with the broader European technology vision.
Oversee the design, development, and delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality technology solutions.
Establish strong engineering standards, governance, and best practices across architecture, security, DevOps, and delivery.
Drive operational excellence across development processes, tooling, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
Collaborate closely with Product, Data, Risk, and Commercial teams across multiple European markets.
Ensure compliance with UK and EU regulatory requirements relevant to fintech operations.
Act as a senior technology leader within the UK, contributing to business growth and market expansion.
Manage budget, resource planning, vendor relationships, and long-term technology investment decisions.
About You
Extensive experience in senior engineering leadership roles (e.g., Head of Engineering, Engineering Director, VP Engineering).
Strong technical foundation with prior hands-on software engineering experience.
Proven track record of scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments.
Experience within fintech, payments, banking, or regulated financial services environments.
Deep understanding of modern cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and scalable systems design.
Experience working across multi-country European organisations is advantageous.
Strong commercial acumen and ability to align engineering execution with business strategy.
Excellent stakeholder management and cross-cultural communication skills.
Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
