Your Responsibilities
* Oversee daily accounting functions: Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, project accounting, and cash flow management.
* Payroll Operations: Handle payroll processes, including deductions, reimbursements, union reporting, and compliance with audit requirements.
* Financial Reporting: Collaborate with project management teams to prepare, review, and finalize financial reports, addressing discrepancies as they arise.
* Month-End and Year-End Close: Lead the close processes by preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts to ensure data accuracy.
* Tax Reporting: Manage sales, use, and payroll tax reporting, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
* Process Improvements: Identify and implement enhancements to streamline accounting operations.
* Annual Audits: Coordinate and manage financial audits, working closely with auditors for smooth reviews.
* Strategic Support: Provide support for special financial projects in partnership with senior leadership.
* Team Mentorship: Guide and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering their growth and ensuring high performance.
What We’re Looking For
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years in accounting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
* Payroll Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll processing systems and related functions.
* Industry Experience: Familiarity with construction accounting or industry-specific practices is a plus.
* Tax Compliance: Proficiency in sales/use tax and payroll tax reporting.
* Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software, such as Sage 100 Contractor.
* Leadership Qualities: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams with effective communication and problem-solving skills.
* Detail-Oriented: Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
