Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning several nuclear power stations and research sites across the UK, including Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd, Wylfa, Harwell, Winfrith, and the hydroelectric plant Maentwrog.
As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay handles the clean-up and demolition of the former fast reactor research and development centre. About the role
BR135 – Engineering Section Head (Sp54)
Hear from the Hiring Manager: "This is a key leadership position within the Engineering Department. You will be responsible for the delivery of System Health management at the site, overseeing inspection, testing, and prioritization of upgrade and repair initiatives. Reporting directly to the Site Engineering Manager, you will guide site strategy to ensure plant and equipment are fit for purpose and support our Business Plan. You will manage all Systems Engineering staff and collaborate with maintenance and safety managers to provide cross-department leadership. We seek someone who challenges norms, streamlines processes, and innovates using new technologies."
The role involves contractual hours from 07:30 to 17:15, Monday to Thursday, ideal for a four-day workweek.
Key Deliverables
* Maintain surveillance and long-term health of plant systems.
* Develop and implement asset care strategies.
* Investigate plant issues promptly and take appropriate actions.
* Provide technical advice to the Engineering Manager.
* Undertake delegated responsibilities such as Design Authority and Engineer Responsible for Maintenance Schedule (ERMS).
Qualifications & Experience
* Significant experience in Nuclear, Industrial, or Construction/Demolition industries.
* Minimum HNC/D with significant experience or Level 5 qualification; Degree in Engineering or relevant field at Level 6; Chartered Engineer status (desirable).
* Knowledge of safety legislation, including CDM (desirable).
