Secondary Science Teacher - QTS Preferred
Location: Longdon (near Lichfield)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Are you a passionate and resilient Science Teacher looking to make a real difference? We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic educator to join our alternative provision setting, supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, autism and related behavioural challenges.
About the Role:
This is a unique opportunity to teach Science in a nurturing and therapeutic learning environment that values relationship-based practice and individualised support. Working with a small group of students, you will deliver engaging lessons that inspire curiosity and confidence in Science, while supporting pupils' personal and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver a broad and balanced Science curriculum tailored to individual learning needs
* Create a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment
* Build positive relationships with students to support their SEMH and behavioural needs
* Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including Senecas, therapists, and pastoral staff
* Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting teaching approaches accordingly
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred - but we welcome applications from unqualified teachers with relevant experience
* Experience or strong interest in working with SEMI, autism and/or behavioural needs
* Strong classroom management skills and a trauma-informed approach
* Passion for Science and creative, flexible teaching methods
* Empathy, resilience and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable young people
