Overview

Teacher of Business Studies and Key Stage 5 Lead, Pastoral and Progress role at TES FE News. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Business Studies teacher who will also take on the additional responsibility of Key Stage 5 Lead for WMG Academy Solihull.
This post includes teaching across Years 10 to 13 and leadership of KS5 pastoral and progression responsibilities.


Responsibilities

* Lead, inspire and motivate all students within WMG Academy Solihull to develop a culture for learning and an ethos that expects the highest standards.
* Strengthen a culture for learning and inclusion in Post 16, supporting the Assistant Principal to ensure students thrive, remain engaged, and overcome barriers to learning.
* Lead and have oversight of the Key Stage 5 curriculum and pastoral needs; develop and embed the pastoral curriculum for Post 16.
* Signpost student mental health and wellbeing in collaboration with the Assistant Principal.


Duties and Responsibilities (in addition to those of a teacher)


Strategic

* Lead on behaviour for learning for Post 16 across the academy; oversee behaviour policy, protocols and procedures.
* Lead the Post 16 pastoral curriculum and ensure delivery of relevant material for Post 16 students.
* Collaborate with the Assistant Principal to implement effective Post 16 pastoral systems, interventions and monitoring.
* Work with Careers and Destination Manager to ensure zero NEETs for Post 16.
* Maintain effective communication with parents about student performance and overcome barriers to learning.
* Coordinate with Marketing Manager to support recruitment targets for Post 16.
* Over time, become trained as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead for the academy, particularly for Post 16.


Pastoral and Behaviour Management

* Monitor attendance, behaviour and emotional welfare of Post 16 students; oversee the behaviour policy and procedures.
* Collaborate with the Pastoral Lead for Key Stage 4 and Behaviour and Pastoral Manager to meet students’ emotional and health needs.
* Empower staff to implement the Behaviour policy consistently; ensure standards of discipline support outstanding progress.
* Identify appropriate support, care and guidance strategies for identified individuals and vulnerable groups.
* Lead the Post 16 pastoral system (both staff and students) and coordinate pastoral and intervention meetings; monitor and review strategies.
* Lead induction for learners transitioning from previous schools and develop a Senior Learner Forum to involve students in decision-making and wellbeing.
* Coordinate and lead interventions with employer partners where relevant and communicate with parents about student performance.
* Maintain accurate student records and develop systems to celebrate achievements; follow procedures for attendance and punctuality.
* Foster positive attitudes through activities such as competitions and inter-pastoral group events.


Teaching, Learning and Assessment

* Teaching commitment in line with the TLR; demonstrate outstanding teaching across the full ability range from Years 10 to 13, including BTEC and A-Level Business Studies.
* Use a range of observation, assessment, monitoring and recording strategies; provide timely, constructive feedback to students, parents and colleagues.
* Support and guide students, colleagues, parents and carers with timely feedback on attainment and progress; comply with policy requirements of assessment, reporting and recording.
* Perform duties commensurate with the post as directed by the Principal/Line Manager.


Additional

* Principal responsibilities include upholding the vision and values of the WMG Academy Trust, modeling high professional standards, contributing to department development, and supporting marketing, recruitment and events as appropriate.
* Maintain discipline in line with Academy policies and ensure a safe learning environment; comply with health and safety rules and trust policies.
* Develop and implement an innovative curriculum and work with employers to embed employability skills and work-related learning.
* Continually improve teaching practice to achieve outstanding outcomes and share best practice across the academy.
