The Firmwide Compensation Team drives the development and implementation of our compensation philosophy, policies, and practices around the world, supporting our best efforts to attract and retain the best talent available. This function requires liaising with other departments such as Controllers, Legal, and Tax and will also involve providing support to other HCM functions, including HCM Business Partners, Recruiting, Employee Relations, Executive Compensation, Equity Compensation, and Global Mobility Services. The ideal candidate will leverage their proven expertise to assist in the design and delivery of comprehensive compensation programmes to over 6,000 employees across the region. This candidate will serve as a key member of the EMEA Compensation team. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Serve as strategic advisor to Divisions in the design and implementation of compensation programmes and p artner with divisional HCM to advise / deliver workable solutions to the business on compensation issues Oversee and support region-specific compensation programmes and processes e.g. Currency Election Programme and deliver on compensation related projects in line with firm and divisional strategy Work with consultants to benchmark compensation in financial services and other adjacent markets, and provide key findings, as required, to senior leadership throughout the year Partner with cross-functional HCM teams to advise and structure new hire compensation packages Provide support and oversight for the year-end compensation process including total compensation recommendations, salaries and compensation communication Partner with divisional HCM to work on any new office build-outs or acquisitions within the EMEA region Identify continuous improvement opportunities, drive process change and create efficiencies across the function. Work closely with HCM Engineering on system enhancements and automation to achieve operational efficiency Liaise with divisional HCM, Tax, Legal, and Controllers on compensation matters as necessary QUALIFICATIONS SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR Preferably Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field such as Finance, Accounting, or Mathematics or a related field in HR Approximately 5 – 10 years of relevant work experience; experience in compensation preferred Comfortable working with and analyzing large sets of data and presenting results that tell a clear and compelling story Ability to handle multiple, time-sensitive projects while focusing on the quality of work delivered to clients Highly organized, attention to detail and excellent follow-through required Some functional knowledge of Executive Compensation practices and European remuneration regulations preferred Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop relationships with professionals across several HCM groups and act as an effective liaison to meet client needs Ability to work with Excel on a day to day basis, strong preference for individuals to be comfortable doing macros, vlookups, and pivot tables Thinks multiple steps ahead; prepares for potential problems and escalates issues when appropriate; and juggles competing deadlines effectively Ability to work well both independently and in a global fast-paced team environment At Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
