Join Our Inclusive Education Team!

Are you passionate about inclusive education and ready to make a real difference for students with special educational needs? We are expanding our Additional Learning Support (ALS) services as part of a trust-wide commitment to increase our inclusive offer for students. As a Lead Learning Support Assistant, you will be a core member of a team dedicated to supporting students with learning differences across St Vincent College or Richard Taunton Sixth Form College. This is a newly created role offering you the chance to shape our provision and help build a more inclusive future at our colleges.

About the Role

In this key leadership support position, you will coordinate and elevate the work of our Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to ensure every student with additional needs gets the help they require to succeed. Working closely with the Learning Support Team Leader and Additional Learning Support Manager, you’ll make certain that students with learning difficulties and disabilities – including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and physical or sensory needs – have tailored support that removes barriers to their learning. You will also maintain a hands-on support role with students, leading by example and keeping you closely attuned to learner needs.

As a Lead Learning Support Assistant, you’ll coordinate and support a team of LSAs to deliver tailored, inclusive support for students with a range of learning differences and disabilities across college settings. Your role includes guiding support plans, working directly with students in class and through targeted interventions and facilitating students developing in their studies. You’ll help ensure all students can participate in enrichment activities and off-site trips, collaborate with staff to monitor student well-being, and contribute to smooth transitions into, through, and beyond college, all while making a meaningful impact on every learner’s experience and success.

Why Join Us?

Inclusive Vision and New Team

By joining our colleges, you become part of a forward-thinking trust that places inclusivity at the heart of its mission. This Lead LSA role is a key piece of an exciting initiative: we are building a dedicated team of specialists to enhance our support for students with specific learning differences. You will have the opportunity to shape this new team from the ground up, influence college-wide support practices, and see the direct impact of your coordination and care on students’ success.

Make a Real Impact: In this role, every day is an opportunity to change a life. By ensuring that a student gets the right support at the right time, you might help a struggling reader pass their GCSE English resit, or enable a shy autistic student to gain the confidence to join a club or make a friend. You’ll be instrumental in removing barriers that once seemed insurmountable to a young person – be it anxiety in the classroom, difficulty with coursework, or feeling isolated on campus – and opening doors for them to thrive. Each success story, each student who achieves something they thought impossible, will be a direct result of your team’s commitment and your leadership in deploying support effectively. Few jobs offer such tangible, heartwarming rewards.

All successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Closing date: 18th August 2025 at midnight

St Vincent College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
