Responsibilities
* Ensuring the timeliness, accuracy and completion of month end activities, including sales / purchase ledger
* Presenting monthly financial reports and analysis to senior management and provide insightful information and expectations to aid long-term and short-term decision making
* Preparing and reviewing accounting entries, evaluating entries for completeness and accuracy
* Performing variance analysis including month / quarter / year fluctuations
* Preparing accurate budgets, forecasts and business plans and work directly with senior management team in formalising financial information
* Tracking the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
* Monitoring and reporting raw materials and finished goods inventory levels
* Establishing and maintaining financial policies and procedures for the company
* Reviewing monthly management accounts, VAT calculations and Balance Sheet reconciliations
* Continually reviewing internal company policies, controls and processes to improve and support evolving business requirements
* Providing analysis and insight that links financial reports to business strategies
* Conducting monthly review meetings with budget holders and act as a point of contact to support budget holders with commercial business, capital and investment proposals
* Supporting projects with financial analysis and control to ensure business cases are fit for purpose together with post implementation reviews
Experience and Qualifications
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant with experience in a production environment
* Comprehensive experience in technical accounting aspects of cost accounting
* Proven leader who can set objectives and develop individuals to achieve their potential and also interact across all levels of the business
* Excellent understanding of financial control and reporting methods gained in a manufacturing environment
* Good understanding of business as well as financial issues
* Up to date technical knowledge of accounting regulations, processes and procedures
* A proven ability to influence decision makers, demonstrate commercial acumen and have the ability to support various projects at different timescales
* Microsoft Excel experience
* Payroll, pension, and tax experience
* Well-round team player
This is a day-shift, site-based role, working Monday - Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm and Friday 8.00am to 1.00pm.
