Aramark UK is currently recruiting a Cook in Edinburgh EH8 9UE to prepare home-cooked meals for those experiencing homelessness. You will assist with preparing breakfast and dinner for residents daily. This role allows creativity and freedom to prepare diverse meals for residents experiencing homelessness. It is not a fast-paced kitchen environment but an opportunity to focus on quality and creativity, providing work that is rewarding both financially and personally.
Our client is a Christian charity whose mission is to meet human needs without discrimination. The site offers services supporting addiction, mental health, homelessness, and individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
This role requires a strong-willed, empathetic candidate who accepts people from all walks of life. The work can be challenging but rewarding, providing valuable skills in de-escalation applicable in many areas of life.

A day in the life of a Cook:
* Prepare hot and cold foods, serve breakfast, main meals, and desserts in a canteen-style environment within a homeless lifehouse.
* Manage catering assistants or KP staff onsite.
* Follow menus or create your own meal ideas, with ample time to prepare meals for a small group, allowing creativity.
* Serve at the hot counter during breakfast and dinner, interact with residents, monitor dish levels, and ensure Food Safety standards.
* Clean work areas and follow health and safety protocols.
You will be set up for success if you have:
* Relevant cookery/culinary qualification is desirable; previous catering experience (minimum 2 years) will be considered.
* Food hygiene level 2 is desirable but can be obtained via our online e-learning portal.
