Contract Power BI Developer - Banking
6-Month Contract | Inside IR35Location: Bristol, Birmingham, or Manchester (2 days onsite per week)
My client a leading global Bank are recruiting for a Contract Power BI Developer to support within a central Data & Analytics function.
This role focuses on designing and delivering high quality Power BI datasets, data models, and dashboards that support critical business and regulatory reporting. You will play a key role in strengthening BI governance, improving resilience, and enabling AI-ready analytics across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, build, and optimise Power BI datasets and semantic data models
* Develop intuitive, high-performance dashboards and reports
* Write and optimise DAX for KPIs, time intelligence, and complex business logic
* Perform data transformation using Power Query (M) and SQL
* Improve BI resilience including data quality, refresh reliability, performance, and access controls
* Document data lineage, business logic, and reporting solutions
* Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and platform teams
* Support automation and AI-enabled BI capabilities where appropriate
Skills & Experience Required
* Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, and Power Query
* Solid SQL skills and understanding of dimensional data modelling
* Experience delivering BI solutions within banking, financial services, or other regulated environments
* Strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions
* Comfortable working in an agile, multi-stakeholder environment
Desirable Experience
* Banking/ Financial services experience
* Consultancy background delivering BI or analytics solutions
* Exposure to automation, AI-driven reporting, or enterprise BI governance
