The Environment Agency is committed to inclusivity and equal opportunities, offering flexible work arrangements. We are seeking a fixed‑term Energy Advisor (up to 2 years) to support regulation of the energy sector.
Responsibilities
 * Provide expert support and technical leadership through advice, guidance and training.
 * Develop strategy for energy sectors and produce tools to regulate, support development and deliver environmental outcomes.
 * Commission and manage external research projects where needed.
 * Work with internal and external stakeholders including Defra, DESNZ, trade associations and other industry players.
 * Respond to incidents and be available for incident management or business continuity support.
 * Lead on the definition of standards for energy sectors, delivering strategic direction and support regulation.
Experience & Skills
 * Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and encourage consideration of diversity issues.
 * Relevant technical and regulatory knowledge and experience of energy sector processes, including combustion plants, waste incineration and refineries.
 * Knowledge of control measures for emissions to air where relevant.
 * Ability to build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, operators, partner regulators, government, trade bodies and academia.
 * Cooperatively work as part of a team to achieve common goals.
Qualifications
• Evidence of competence in legislative knowledge, teamwork and building relationships.
• Experience delivering portfolios of work and stakeholder engagement.
Contract
Up to 2 years fixed‑term.
